The Deerland Park is a privately owned and managed deer park
in Lanchang, Pahang. The park has some 30 Indonesian deer (Cervus timorensis).
Visitors to the park has a chance to hand feed these gentle
creatures and observe their behaviour at close hand. Other attractions in the
4-hectare park located at the edge of the Krau Forest Reserve, include
ostriches and a sun-bear (Helarctos malayanus) named Muda.
There is also a
section dedicated to the cultivation of traditional herbal plants, which has
over 40 species of traditional herbs. A 200-metre wooden walkway runs through
this area, leading up to an observation tower in the middle of Bukit Rengit.
Just a few minutes further down the road, you will also find
the Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary and an orang asli settlement that would
make interesting stopovers.
Location:
The park is located 25km from Temerloh town. About 2 hours
drive from Kuala Lumpur and 10 minutes from Kuala Gandah.

Getting There:
From Kuala Lumpur, take the Karak Highway to Lanchang,
passing Karak town along the way. At Lanchang, take a left just before the BP
station and proceed following the directions indicated on the signboards
towards the Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary. The Deerland Park is located on
the right before reaching the Kuala Gandah Elephant Rehabilitation Centre.
