The Chitty Museum is a new enterprise of the Chitty community to document their unique heritage. Located at Chitty Village, Gajah Berang, about 2.5 km from Melaka Town, the museum exhibits colourful-designed traditional water-pots, multi-tiered brass oil-lamps, serving trays, sculptures, handicrafts and photographs.
The Melaka Chitty community, also known as the Melaka straits-born Hindus or Indian Peranakans has been in Melaka since the reign of the Melaka Sultanate in the early 15th century.
