Located in the lush greeneries of recreational forest, an ideal place to for all bookworm out there. Kampung = Village and Buku = Book. So Kampung Buku is Melaka Book Village. As the title appear, book village has vast collection of books locals and international. First Book Village in Malaysia is At Langkawi, Kedah.

The founder and Chairman is Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Sanusi Junid. The Idea of Book Village was also from him and CM received the idea positively. So as Langkawi is the 1st book village, that makes Melaka 2nd. I was told that this book village is the 5th in Asia and 33rd in the world. All book village in the world are networked by the International Organizations of Books Towns and Book Towns Movement. Currently 15,000 books reside at book village.

Melaka Book Village is not just a typical library where people come to read and borrow the book. Here people can write book, do a meeting, discussion, browsing the Internet, launching a new publication and various types of activities which promotes reading and enhancement of knowledge can be done here. 

Currently there are 9 publishers located in the Book Village. Just 2 Kilometer from the Ayer Keroh Highway Exit and Opposite the Taman Mini Malaysia. Closed on Monday, the book village open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9.00 to 6.00pm except Friday till 12.30pm.
